When looking to sell your house, one of the last things that may cross your mind is how to prepare your home for a viewing.
You may be wondering, what can I do to give its best chance and to sell to potential buyers? Here at Farr and Farr, we are here to help. We have put together a list of our top 3 tips to help you prepare your house for a viewing.
Tip 1
Nothing is better than fresh air!
When preparing for a house viewing, at Farr and Farr we recommend opening those windows and airing out your home before the viewing takes place. Smells can linger and though maybe unnoticeable to those who live in the home, they can be noticeable to others.
We recommend leaving your windows open an hour or so before the viewing and closing them just before – so it doesn’t get too chilly!
Tip 2
Keep it fresh.
Ensuring your home is presentable is important when trying to seal the deal and sell your home. Make sure that all clutter is put away and dust and dirt have been sent packing!
It is important that your home isn’t over-run by strong chemical smells, so make sure to follow our first tip when it comes to preparing for that big day.
If you are fortunate enough to have already moved into your new home, you may want to consider hiring a professional cleaner to get out those stubborn carpet stains. Helping take away the stress of preparing to sell your home.
You’ll also want to make sure that there is fresh bedding on the beds – it is a great way to instantly make your bedroom look tidy!
Tip 3
Create space.
Decluttering is part of the moving process, so you’ll be getting yourself one step ahead when it comes to selling your current and moving to your new one!
You may also want to consider moving the furniture around to help create the illusion of more space in your home.
Remember to declutter all the spaces prospective buyers may want to examine – this may include the garage, outhouses or any other features your home may have!
